Obituary for Brendan Suel

Brendan L. Suel, age 95 of Shakopee. Brendan entered eternal life on Sunday, February 25, 2018. He was born in New Prague, MN, the son of John and Addye (Walsh) Suel.

He attended the University of Minnesota then enlisted in the Army in March 1943. He was assigned to the office of the Chief Surgeon Division in General Eisenhower's headquarters as a staff sergeant. In 1941, Brendan and his brothers John and Cormac founded the Shakopee Valley News. He married Isabelle (Izzy) Huss in June 1952 in Shakopee. Brendan owned Gambles Hardware in Chaska and later was clerk of court for Scott County. After he retired, he started Suel Letterpress and did small printing jobs. Brendan had a passion for print work, loved celebrating holidays with family and adored his children and grandchildren. He was proud of his Irish heritage.

Brendan is preceded in death by his wife Isabelle (Izzy); son, Rick; grandsons, Thomas James and David James Suel; parents, John and Addye; sister, Ruth Weiland; brothers John, Cormac and Colman.
He is survived by his children, Robert (Pat), Thomas (Amy), Joseph (Therese); grandchildren, Mike, Eric (Laura), Jennifer (Eric) Nelson, Jared (Laura), Richard, Tim, Katie, Chrissy; great-grandchildren, Alani, Jackson, Isabel, Carter, Micah, Noah and Griffin.

Presiding is the Reverend Erik Lundgren. Pallbearers are Brendan's grandsons, Mike, Eric, Jared, Richard, Tim Suel and Eric Nelson. Military honors will be provided by the Shakopee Veterans Honor Guard.
