Obituary for Delores "Dori" E. Slater

Delores “Dori” Slater, age 88 of Savage died peacefully January 18, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at St. Gertrude’s Health Center in Shakopee.
Dori was born on March 7, 1929 in South St. Paul, the daughter of Eugene and Philomena (Noonan) Moehrle.
She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan; she never missed watching a game and could tell you any statistic on every player. She traveled to Fort Meyers for Spring Training and she even got circled by Bert Blyleven and spent some time in the broadcasting booth with both Bert and Dick Bremer for her birthday at Target Field. She also loved going fishing, playing bingo and euchre with her kids and grandkids. Dori was an active member of the Savage and Prior Lake VFW Ladies Auxiliary, serving as a past president and treasurer and was very instrumental to the Voice of Democracy scholarship program.
Dori raised seven children and her courage, strength, faith and love for her family was unmatched. She was our hero and will be forever loved and always in our hearts.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Slater; parents, Eugene and Philomena Moehrle; brother, Bob Moehrle; sisters, Jeanie Edholm and Mary Lou Serres.
She is survived by her seven children, Sue (Dennis) Ordahl, Judy (Sandy Terry) Slater, Nancy (Bruce) Friedges, Jim Slater, Tim Slater, Maureen (Paul) Cahill and Mary (John) Kaiser; her adoring grandchildren, Katie (Bryan) Wilkins, Justin (Christa) Ordahl, AJ (Karn) Friedges, Corey Friedges, Megan Cahill, Alli Cahill, Savannah Slater and Mikayla Kaiser; seven great-grandchildren; special niece and nephew Noreen (Mark Bartholet) Slater and Ray (Missy) Slater and their children, Lexie and Austin Slater and Andy(Kelcie) McGraw.
