Obituary for Dolores "Polly" C. Luebke

Dolores C. Luebke, "Polly", age 87, of Shakopee, entered eternal life on Sunday, November 5, 2017, at her home.

Polly was born in Crookston, Minnesota, on March 30, 1930, the daughter of Henry and Mable (Felepe) Hueser. She married Harlan Luebke on July 6, 1951, in Chaska, Minnesota.

For over 30 years Polly worked as a waitress at Eddie Webster’s and MN Valley Country Club, both in Bloomington. She also worked at St. Mary’s School as an aid for students with special needs. Polly was very active at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and served on the funeral luncheon committee.

Polly opened up her home to anyone who needed a place to stay, even to her beloved Kitty Cat. Her home was the gathering place for family and friends. She hosted company and kept an eye on the neighborhood from her favorite chair in the kitchen. She made the best potato salad, and was a wonderful cook. Even if her guests weren’t hungry, they were required to stay and eat.

She loved the holidays and playing cards Sundays after church. She had her favorite slot machines at Little Six Casino as well, “Sun and the Moon” machines.

Her grandchildren meant the world to Polly, and she collected baseball memorabilia, autographs and coins to pass on to them. She was a kind woman who cared fiercely for her grandchildren. Polly would say, “No one messes with my grandchildren!”

Polly was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan; parents, Henry and Mabel (Felepe) Hueser; sisters, Helen Brinkhaus and Eileen (PeeWee) Busse; brother, Harold Hueser; sisters-in-law, Marlys (Roy) Teich, Dorothy (Allan) Schense, Betty Luebke, Vi (Harold) Hueser; brothers-in-law, Earl and Charles Luebke. Survived by daughters, Vicky (Bob) Pfalzgraf, and Kathy Jefferson (Darvin Basche); grandchildren, Aaron (Lia) Ess, Molly (Scott) Breimhorst, Alex (Myranda) Ess, Kyle (Kelly) Jefferson, Matt (Brandy) Jefferson, Keisha Jefferson; great-grandchildren, Eve, Sam and Joey Breimhorst, Orion and Camille Ess, Vienna Ess, Evan and Elliana Jefferson, Autumn Jefferson; sisters, Annette (Glenn) Willmsen, and Deanna (John) Hergott; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (Jack) Cullum, and Darlene (Wayne) Hansen; many nieces and nephews.
