Jacqueline Christine (Lenz) Bergquist, 47, died Saturday, March 25, 2017, in Shakopee, MN, surrounded by family after a diagnosis of cancer in December of 2015. The oldest child of Ron and Eris Lenz, Jackie was born on May 31, 1969, in Watertown, SD.
She attended Brookings High School and graduated in 1987. While at BHS Jackie worked with the high school girls’ basketball team as a statistician. After high school, Jackie worked as a nanny for two children in Hanover, New Hampshire and in her free time Jackie did stats for Dartmouth University. She came back to Brookings to attend SDSU and received her degree in Printing Management in 1992. At SDSU Jackie was active in the Printonian Club, working for the Town and Country Shopper, and working in the sports information office at SDSU alongside her dad. Jackie worked in various jobs in the printing business in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and the Twin Cities of Minnesota.
Jackie’s passion was always for the game of basketball. She enjoyed working at the game day media operations for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx, Concordia University in St. Paul, and the Summit League Basketball Tournament in Sioux Falls.
She was united in marriage to Kyle Allen Bergquist in a Halloween wedding on October 31, 2015. The couple lived in Chaska, MN with their dog Tank. Jackie loved dogs, sports, art, music, classic movies, and her family.
Jackie is survived by husband Kyle Bergquist; her step-children; Kristina, Brianna, and Cody; Father Ron Lenz and his wife Carol; Sister Jenn (Mike) Cotton; Brother Greg (Heather) Lenz ; nephews Zach Lenz and Barrett Cotton; nieces Ally Lenz and Izzy Cotton; and her most loving aunt Julie Haglund and cousin Adam Haglund.
Jackie is preceded in death by, mother Eris (Haring) Lenz, and grandparents Richard & Esther Haring and Bill & Elsie Lenz.
