Obituary for Leander H. Worm

Leander H. Worm, age 98, lifetime resident of Shakopee, entered eternal life on Monday, January 23, 2017 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine.
Leander was born on July 16, 1918 in Jordan, MN the son of Hubert and Gertrude (Boeckman) Worm. He married Marie Vierling on June 15, 1948. Leander served in the United States Army during WWII, and was a member of the American Legion Post 2 and the VFW 4046 in Shakopee. He was also a Third Degree member of the Shakopee Knights of Columbus.
Leander was a devout Catholic who lived out his faith in service to others. A mechanic by trade, he could fix anything—and he was there for anybody who needed his help. He was a do-it-yourselfer; he had to be. Leander’s mother died when he was 9 years old, and he learned the value of hard work at a young age. He passed that work ethic on to his children.
Leander was a very social man who enjoyed visiting with people. He saw the best in people and didn’t “sweat the small stuff.” He had a great sense of humor — a jokester and a prankster. He also enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
Leander is preceded in death by his wife, Marie (1996); daughter, Mary Dally (1993), infant daughter, Joanne. He is survived by his sons, Charlie (Marilyn), Lee (Margaret), Joe (Diane); son –in-law, Lee Dally; grandchildren, Rob (Laurie), Linda (Rocco), Laura (Nate), Tony, Jenny, Adam, Janelle (Mike), Jeff, Matthew, Kayla, Kristina; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Leonette Lanners.
