Obituary for Lucienne "Lucy" Marie (Gosselin) Egan

Lucienne “Lucy” Marie (Gosselin) Egan, 90, of Prior Lake, MN, formerly of Melrose, MN passed away on July 10, 2017 at McKenna Crossing.
Lucy was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on August 26, 1926, to Phillippe and Cora (Mousseau) Gosselin. Following graduation from high school, she worked as a bookkeeper for three years before entering the School of Nursing at St. Boniface Hospital to become a registered nurse. In 1950, she moved to North Dakota to help open a clinic and small hospital and relocated to Melrose, Minnesota, a year later to continue her nursing career. While there, she met Richard (Dick) Egan, whom she married on May 24, 1952. They were married for 60 years.
After her marriage, Lucy worked as a mother and homemaker and was an active participant in her parish and community. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Melrose Hospital Auxiliary, and the Melrose School Board; headed the Christian Mothers; organized blood drives; and acted in community theatre. She taught religious education classes, sang in the church choir, and was a Eucharistic Minister and Lector at St Mary’s Catholic Church. Lucy enjoyed playing cards with her friends and family, golfing, reading, and visiting her sisters and brothers in Winnipeg. Most of all, she loved to cook and take care of Dick, her kids, and grandchildren. Her home was always a place of warmth and love, where everyone was welcome.
Lucy is survived by her children Michelle (Jim) Langlas of Naples, Florida; Anne (Dave) Gant of Apple Valley; Tim (Ann) Egan of Dillon, Montana; and Denise (Bob) Loonan of Shakopee; daughter-in-law Patty Egan of Naples, Florida;14 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters Adrienne Mackenzie, Fernande Caley, and Anita (Jim) Fyfe; sisters-in-law Marion Gosselin, Vicky Gosselin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
