Obituary for Peter Thomas Mollner

Peter Thomas Mollner, age 61 of Burnsville, entered eternal life on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, East Bank in Minneapolis.
Peter was born on May 12, 1955 in St. Paul, MN, the son of Leonard and Dorothy (Rylicki) Mollner.
He graduated from Cretin High School in St. Paul in 1973 and continued his education at the University of St. Thomas, where he completed his undergraduate degree and also his MBA in future years. Peter married Margaret Kennealy on July 18, 1980 at Mary, Mother of the Church in Burnsville.
Peter grew up near W. 7th street in St. Paul. As a young boy, he had his own paper route, and later he worked nights at the local grocery store, Red Owl, in order to put himself through college. Education, continuous learning and hard work have always been central to what he has valued. He carried these principles with him throughout his career, where he focused in the risk management field, working for various organizations, including Honeywell, Delta Airlines, and most recently, Patterson Companies. Peter has always been the hardest of workers. He took great pride in his work.
Peter enjoyed playing the clarinet – he joined the band in high school, continued in the college band (where he met Margaret) and started playing again these last few years for fun. He liked talking about cars (particularly older models), following the stock market, taking drives on nice days, reading books and the newspaper, going on walks in the park, watching baseball games and spending time on his boat.
Peter had a passion for life and more than anything – love for his family. He always put his four children first, and he adored his wife. He was a loving son and took great care of his parents, particularly his mother in her older age. He valued the relationships that he built with each of his brothers. Becoming a grandfather this past year was a true highlight for him.
In 2014, Peter was diagnosed with leukemia, which he successfully beat. Earlier this year, health complications arose as a result of the wear-and-tear his body had been through. Despite this, he continued to fight so bravely. Peter was incredibly thankful for the support he received from the entire medical team and staff at the University of Minnesota, especially the care and guidance provided by Dr. Erica Warlick. Peter’s strength and determination along with his faith were unwavering throughout the entire journey.
Peter is survived by his wife, Margaret; children, Bridget, Megan (Charlie) Morin, Michael (fiancée, Eman Abdullahi), Molly; grandchild, Thomas Morin; brothers, John (Sue), Jim (Cathy); many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Dorothy.
