Obituary for Tammy Raasch

Tammy Raasch, age 40, of Shakopee.

How fortunate we were in the life of Tammy Raasch, beloved daughter of Gary and Sally Raasch of Shakopee, Minnesota, from March 25, 1977 to August 30, 2017.

A veteran of the Twin Cities radio market, Tammy brought whip-smart hilarity and heart to her long running position on the Van and Cheryl Morning Show on KS95 and the My Talk 107.1 midday show, Donna, Marley and Tam. Recently, she joined Fox9 News and instantly became a valued and well-loved member of the team.

Charismatic on air, Tammy was also a gifted radio producer whose motto was, "Give me their name and I'll book them." Her charm and tenacity garnered countless celebrity interviews, from Kevin Bacon to John Cusack to the latest newsmaker of the day. She was “an absolute spitfire” at booking guests, a skill she wielded with relish for the esteemed NineBall Radio prep service for years.

Devoted to family and a fierce protector of animals, Tammy loved to goad her nieces and nephews into spontaneous dance parties, run marathons with -- and, she’d have you know, much faster than -- her sister Jill, and take her Dad and dog Lyla for long drives. A lover of horses and a native animal whisperer, Tammy fearlessly rescued the most desperate, unwanted animals she could find and transformed them with her deep care and love.

Tammy's longtime radio colleague, Cheryl Kaye, recalls: "Tammy had that thing all of us in radio wish we had: honesty. She was who she was on the air. Truthful. Hysterical. Quirky. Heartfelt. Earnest. Relatable. She was everything."

Being with Tammy felt like home. Parents Gary and Sally, siblings Amy, Jill, Molly and John, nephews and nieces Jackie, Jake, Dean, Drew and Megan, extended family, friends and fans will see her nobility and fight in the all-out run of wild horses, her joy in the smile of her dog Lyla, and her shine in the dawn she loved to greet.
