Obituary for Thomas E. Gendreau

Thomas E. Gendreau, age 90, of Shakopee, MN, entered eternal life on Friday, January 5, 2018, at his home.
Tom was born in Minneapolis, MN, on August 1, 1927, the son of Eugene Gendreau and Hazel (McGowan) Cote.
Tom served in the United States Navy at the end of WWII. He married Adeline Smith on October 19, 1946 in Minneapolis.
Tom worked for Continental Machines in Savage as a pattern maker, and later he had his own business. He was also a locksmith, and a deputy dispatcher for Shakopee police for 15 years.
Tom liked documentaries on wars and really anything Western. He was a member of the Checker Association. He was introverted, and quite smart, sometimes inventing tools. He was also artistic, and could draw trains, planes and cars. Tom designed and finished his own homes usually. He wrote stories/books/novel which were copyrighted, but never published.
He and Adeline liked to sing together, and he enjoyed singing to his kids.
Tom is survived by his wife, Adeline; children, Cheryl (David) Ekblad, Laura (Luther) Kranz, Mary (Craig) Rausch, Annie (Mark) Olmstead, and Thomas; 14 grandchildren, Teresa, Dayton and Sharon, Esther, Clint, Seth, Tamar, Will and Paul, Jenny, Shanna and Anthony, Doug and Emily; 14 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by son, Thomas Michael; grandson, Evan.
