Obituary for William "Bill" P. Bauler, Jr.

William Paul Bauler Jr., age 76 of Shakopee passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at his home.
Bill was born on February 22nd, 1941, in Madison, MN to parents, Helga Louise, and William Paul Bauler Sr. He grew up in Madison, and graduated in 1959 from Madison High School. On June 13th, 1959, “Billy” married “Patty” LaBelle, of Louisburg, and shortly thereafter, moved to the Twin Cities, living first in Minneapolis, then Minnetonka, St. Louis Park, Eden Prairie, and finally settling in Shakopee.
Bill was raised solely by his mother, Helga, after his father, William Sr., was killed in WWII Germany and when Bill was only 3 years old. Life was not easy, but it was not without love, excitement, or adventure. There have been countless stories shared of the three brothers, their cousins, and many friends, which have become nearly legendary over the years. Bill would narrate these stories of ambitious fishing trips, hunting excursions, playing snooker, and poker games; and always with a grin. He would recount fondly their small-town escapades (often glossing over the safety or legality aspects of certain antics), and his life in general; never with a regret. He sincerely lived and loved life.
After moving to “the Cities” to raise their growing family, Bill worked odd jobs and went to school, while Pat cared for the children. He earned a degree in Automotive Mechanics from Dunwoody College, but ultimately, later chose a career in insurance with Gelco Corporation. After more than 20 years, Bill retired from Gelco (now GE Capital) as V.P. of Corporate Insurance, and eventually settled in Shakopee to “relax” as a caretaker and grandpa. Bill loved bowling, softball, boating, and family vacations. He lived for his children’s, then grandchildren’s, sporting and school events. He was always willing to lend a hand, an ear, a dollar, a joke, a ride, or a word of advice. He was a genuine, great guy, who fought a tough fight against the cancer that finally stole him from this world.
He is reunited by his death with his soulmate and wife of 57 years, Patricia Yvonne Bauler (LaBelle), his parents, William and Helga Bauler (Sivertson), and brothers, Charles McCarthy and Douglas Sivertson.
He is survived by his loving children, Debra Krause (Jim), Bruce Bauler (Chris), Pamela Nelson (Randy), Teresa Christianson, Charles Bauler, and Brenda Neuman (John). His adoring grandchildren, Aja, Emery, Joseph, Jacquanette, Samantha, James, Mary, Mathew, Mason, William, Haley, Chad, Jessica, Jamie, Zachary, Ryan, Mark, Cara, Jack, Ben, and Emma, and his beautiful great-grandchildren, Alex, Andrew, Annabel, Devin, Elliot, Lorelei, Korben, William, Audrey, Taylor, and Lennon. “The boys,” Jake and Buddy, as well as his cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces & nephews.
Bill’s family is deeply mourning the loss of his presence on Earth, but they will continue to carry his unconditional love within their hearts. He was a very special man.
